Three students from school districts in the ESD 112 region were recognized at the 48th Annual Superintendent’s Art Show on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The State Art Show was held virtually for the second year in a row, and showcased award winners from across the state who had already placed highly at their regional ESD Art Shows, as well as several student art performances.
Out of the eight winning artworks from the ESD 112 Art Show, the following three were selected for awards at the state level:
Amie Makela, “It Devours,” Jurors’ Choice Award
Ridgefield High School (Teacher: Tamara Hoodenpyl), Ridgefield School District
Audrey Moehring, “Geometry,” Jurors’ Choice Award
Union High School (Teacher: Sean Morrison), Evergreen Public Schools
Tyler McKinley, “Change Sings,” WSSDA Award
Kelso High School (Teacher: T.J. Frey), Kelso School District
The pieces selected for Jurors’ Choice Awards will be purchased by OSPI and displayed at their office in Olympia. WSSDA will also purchase and display the artwork they selected. Each student whose artwork was selected will receive $200.
