Vancouver, WA—Monday, March 7, 2016—MikeNerland, current superintendent of the Camas School District, has been selected as Educational Service District 112’s next Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning effective July 1, 2016. Mike brings significant leadership experience to the job having been a teacher, principal and superintendent. He recently announced that he will leave his post as Camas’ superintendent in June.
Mike is excited to join the ESD team. “I very much look forward to working with Superintendent Tim Merlino, the leadership team, and the dedicated staff working throughout Southwest Washington to advance ESD 112’s mission of equalizing educational opportunities for learning communities through innovative partnerships, responsive leadership and exceptional programs,” said Nerland.
He also praises the work of the current Assistant Superintendent Barbara Lomas who will retire in June. “Barbara Lomas’ leadership at the ESD and throughout her career has been exemplary,” he said. “I look forward to the opportunity to continue the work in which she’s been involved in partnership with ESD program managers and district and state leaders.”
ESD 112 looks forward to the leadership and expertise Nerland will bring when he joins the team in July.
