A state program called Early Achievers gives child care providers access to professional development that aims to:
- Improve the quality of their care
- Implement a rating system that will give parents information about where to find quality care.
Providers who choose to participate in the voluntary program receive a rating that identifies them as a quality program. They also have access to coaching and professional development programs to improve the quality of their care.
“Research shows that the quality level of a child care program makes a difference for children,” said Karen Zent, Child Care Aware Specialist at ESD 112. “But parents may not know where to start in selecting quality care. Early Achievers helps parents know the provider has been reviewed so they can make informed decisions about their child’s care.”
Through Early Achievers, ESD 112 works in partnership with the Department of Early Learning, Child Care Aware of Washington, and the University of Washington.
