After performing an extensive communications audit with ESD 112 in the fall of 2015, the Clark County Skills Center decided it was time to refresh their brand. A broad constituent group concluded that the name of the 30-year-old regional school, supported by ten partner school districts, no longer reflected current programs and academics.
The newly identified Cascadia Technical Academy (also referred to as Cascadia Tech) is still Clark County’s Skills Center but has targeted brand qualities, including a new logo, to reflect the excellence of the 16 programs provided to students who seek to prepare themselves for great careers both immediately after high school and beyond a higher education.
Dr. Mark Mansell, Director of Cascadia Tech explains the change: “For more than 30 years, the Clark County Skills Center has provided students of Southwest Washington with the necessary professional skills and technical knowledge to enter high demand occupations with confidence and pride. This tradition of excellence continues today and will remain our core purpose moving forward. That said, our world has changed in significant ways over the past three decades and we have too. This is why we have re-branded the Skills Center into Cascadia Technical Academy as a way to more accurately reflect the opportunities we provide students who are preparing for an ever-widening variety of pathways available to them in the 21st century. In other words, our new name better reflects who we are and what we do for students as Clark County’s premier learning opportunity for students preparing to become both Career and College ready in the 21st century.”
Cascadia Tech Academy offers career and technical education in 16 program areas where jobs are in high-demand and pay well. High school juniors and seniors receive college preparation and can earn college credits as well as certifications and licenses specific to their program areas. The academy serves over 29 high schools, private schools, and home schools in Clark County. Each year, more than 1,100 students choose Cascadia Tech to improve their earning potential through advanced career or technical training.
